SweetWater Brewing

SweetWater’s roots began back in Boulder, Colorado in the early 90’s while Freddy Bensch and Kevin McNerney were roommates at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

During their time out west, they realized they had more of a hankering for beer than books. Their first step into the profession was washing kegs on the loading docks of a local brewery for free beer. Not a bad job when you’re in college! With all this free beer, their grades went up, their cars got fixed, friends were plentiful and the sun shined a little brighter. Once they were finished with school, it was time to either find a real job, or get serious in the brewing business. Easy choice, right? Freddy and Kevin headed off to the American Brewers Guild in California aka Brewing School to sharpen up their knowledge of “Fermentation Science”! After that they were off and running brewing beer for other breweries around the west coast, learning their craft while keeping the dream of their own place alive.

Coors Brewing

What began in 1873 as a true microbrew has grown into the third largest brewery in the U.S. producing an average of 1.5 million gallons a day. To this day Coors Brewing still malts virtually all their barley at the Golden brewery and get their water from the Clear Creek Watershed, very close to its source, ensuring its Rocky Mountain taste.

Flying Dog Brewery

The Flying Dog Brewpub was founded in Aspen, Colorado in 1990. From that brewpub to a full-fledged Denver brewery in 1994, and then to their current state-of-the-art brewing facility in Frederick, Maryland, Flying Dog continues to brew top notch craft beer.

Boulder Beer Company

The Boulder Beer Company was Colorado’s first microbrew and the forty-third licensed brewery in the United States. It was founded on September 25, 1979 by David Hummer, Alvin Nelson, and Randolf Ware. Ware and Hummer were physics professors at the University of Colorado Boulder and home brewers. In 2008, it became a sponsoring partner in Boulder’s “10 for a Change Challenge,” a program designed to reduce energy consumption by 10% via eco-friendly improvements for increased energy efficiency. In addition to being a sponsor for the challenge, the Pub is already PACE Certified (Partners for a Clean Environment) using bio-diesel fuel, recycled/compostable “to go” containers, and recycling. The brewery uses 100% recycled 6-pack carriers and non-petroleum based inks.

Breckenridge Brewery

Back in the 1980s Breckenridge Brewery’s founder had a dream – to ski all day and drink great beer every night. Since he lived in the snow-kissed Rocky Mountains, fulfilling the skiing portion of his dream was easy. But the great beer part – at a time when a “microbrew” was a rarity – that was another story. So he started brewing his own, more flavorful beers for himself and his thrill-seeking ski pals. Today Breckenridge Brewery continues to work hard to satisfy the thirsts of discerning beer drinkers. The original recipes – and a handful of seasonal creations – are now handcrafted at our three Breckenridge Brewery locations in Colorado. Breckenridge Brewery’s brewing and bottling facility is in Denver’s historic Santa Fe Art District neighborhood. Here our brewmaster and staffers craft and package the bottled and kegged versions of our nationally acclaimed beers.
